Currently Uncomfortable and Uncertain
This Joy
There is something deeply unsettling about waiting—especially in a world engineered to eliminate it. We have apps for speed, answers, shortcuts, and certainty. Groceries arrive in minutes. Knowledge lives in our pockets. Convenience has become the highest good.
And yet.
For all our technology, nothing has been invented that can genuinely help us wait on the Lord—except an earnest heart.
“But my righteous one will live by faith. And I take no pleasure in the one who shrinks back.” —Hebrews 10:38 NIV
Lately, I’ve noticed how easy it is to begin sentences with emotions instead of facts. I feel unsure. I feel anxious. I feel impatient. Feelings are real, but they are not always reliable narrators. Faith, by definition, refuses to start there, instead faith instructs us to SIT THERE and WAIT in the meantime of uncomfortable and uncertain until Understanding arrives!
A non-believer might say, “There’s no fact in faith.”
And to that, I’d say: exactly right.
Faith is not built on visible proof—it is built on trust in a Person. Faith in Jesus was never meant to compete with certainty; it was meant to replace the need for it.
The writer of Hebrews was addressing believers who were tired. Pressured. Tempted to step back into what felt safer and more familiar. Shrinking back wasn’t about walking away loudly—it was about quietly loosening their grip when obedience became uncomfortable and the future unclear.
This scripture is not a threat; it’s an invitation.
Don’t give up on Jesus. Don’t abandon faith when it stops feeling efficient. Don’t retreat when following Him costs patience.
Because here’s the quiet truth:
Time with God requires no appointment.
No long lines.
No reservations.
No booking fees.
Just willingness.
This Joy encourages us to trust God with our doubt and impatience—not after we’ve resolved them. Waiting on the Lord is not wasted time; it is formative time.
“Faith is trusting God even when you don’t understand His plan.” —Corrie ten Boom
“God is never late, but rarely early.” —Anonymous
